“Robotic rehabilitation” can sound futuristic. In practice, it’s a set of tools that help deliver intensive, repeatable therapy under the supervision of a rehabilitation physician.
What it is
Robotic systems can support gait (walking) training and upper-limb therapy by guiding repeatable, measured movements. This allows more repetitions, with consistent quality, than is always possible by hand.
What it isn’t
It isn’t a cure, and it isn’t right for everyone. Technology supports rehabilitation — it doesn’t replace clinical judgement, skilled therapists or your own effort.
Who it may help
Whether robotic therapy is appropriate depends on the individual and is decided after a medical assessment. Where it isn’t suitable, the right answer is conventional, therapist-led rehabilitation.
